Meet the Aubin’s!
This was one of my first shoots with the Aubin’s and you won’t believe the story behind this one. Before diving into it, can we take a moment and look at how adorable the three of them are (insert heart-eye emoji). Mama came perfectly dressed, ready to shoot, as did the boys who were total champs throughout the whole session. Now, besides them being absolutely perfect – This situation was not – Let’s get into it, why don’t we.
It was a beautiful day, we had planned to capture photos along the trails that they ride often in their side-by side (if I’m being honest, I’m shocked that it wasn’t there for the shoot) and enjoy a fun filled morning together. We arrived on location and we decided that we would start off our day at what looked to be the remainder of a torn down building – Really, there wasn’t much left, you’ll see below. We all agreed that this location was the perfect place to start and was something that you don’t always come across. Now, here is where it gets interesting – We started walking towards the wall, snapped a couple of test shots and not even 3 minutes into the shoot does everything turn from fun to pure panic… Panic for me that is. Let’s just say, I took one step that changed it all. This one step just so happened to be right onto a wasp’s nest and in just a few seconds I was swarmed by wasps, and I don’t think I had ever run so fast in my entire life. Luckily it was just me that was stung (over 20 times from the waist down if I might add) by the wasp’s and thank goodness I was not allergic. Although panic had set in and it was quite the sight (thankfully it was just us in the area) and quite a bit of pain, I decided to tough it out and continue with the shoot and I’m so glad that we did.
Looking back now, we laugh at the story and can’t believe that it played out that way. We were all champs that day, we all left with a good story, good photos and (mostly) good memories. Safe to say that I don’t think that any of us will ever come across that situation again, or so we hope – Fingers are crossed, no wasps please!
